New Committee

Following on from the handover of the captaincy, a new committee was duly appointed to oversee the day to day practicalities of managing such an incredible team as ours. We owe our thanks to Kit Davies, Chi-Hé Elder, Guy Emerson, Jolyon Martin, Kien Trinh, and Patricia Vlad for their work over the last year. The new committee, with a mixture of old hands and fresh faces, has a fantastic balance of all the people required to keep the CUDT engine running whilst the dancers train hard.

Varsity Victory

On the 4th May 2013, Cambridge University Dancesport Team has pulled it off yet again and won the annual varsity match against Oxford University Dancesport Team! On home turf, at the Kelsey Kerrige sports centre (frequented by the likes of George Clooney and Matt Damon) both the A and B teams were victorious, the B team by a very impressive margin. This has capped a year’s intense training by the team, during which we have brought home almost every piece of silverware for which we competed, building on similar success last year. It was also the official handover of the captaincy of Dafni Metaxa to Halliki Voolma and the Vice-Captaincy from Sophie Robertson to Kirsty Davies. We are very grateful to the outgoing captains for their hard work and dedication, and wish all the best to our incoming leaders.

Dancesport gets Discretionary Full Blue recognition

As of the 21st February 2013, and thanks to the hard work of the outgoing Captain and Vice-Captain, Dafni Metaxa and Sophie Robertson, Dancesport is now recognised as a Full Blue sport for women. Their work, along with the efforts of the coaches and team members over the years, stands as recognition of the intense training, effort and discipline required of Dancesport. We have been one of the most successful Blues teams within the University over the last few years, and it is this hard work and dedication from our team that has brought us to where we are today.
