Dancesport enjoys Discretionary Full Blue status for men

CUDT is extremely honoured to announce that Dancesport has now been granted Discretionary Full Blue status for both men and women. While the women of CUDT have been recognised since 2013 for representing the University so successfully at university level, the first Extraordinary Full Blue to a male dancer was only awarded in 2015 (some fourteen years after the first award to a Cambridge woman), and as of June 2016 the Men’s Blues Committee has also granted Discretionary Full Blue status for men in Dancesport. This is a prestigious recognition that few sports at Cambridge enjoy and one that stemmed from the hard work and dedication to Dancesport of many generations of CUDT dancers. Cambridge to host IVDC 2015

A Massive congratulations to Michael Champion on being elected IVDA president 2014-2015, and to CUDT for winning the bid to host IVDC this coming year. It is an honour for the team to host the nationals, and we promise you that it will be an amazing event, with a few new events and changes to the programme. Watch this space for more info!

Committee 2014-2015

CUDT has a shiny new committee committed to producing another year of great results and good times. Check out our committee page to see their pretty faces and get in touch. A huge thanks to Halliki, Kirsty, and their committee last year for all the great work they put in.

Taster Sessions in Freshers’ week

New to Dancesport? Want to see what it is we do and how amazing it would be if you joined our Blues or Beginners teams? Come to one of our taster sessions this October. We are performing at a number of colleges (see your JCR or MCR for more details) and also have a special taster session at St Columba’s church (just by John Lewis) on Saturday October 11th from 16:30-18:00. You will get a demo from some of our top dancers, and get to try some steps for yourself. All totally free! So come give Dancesport a try, we would love to see you there.

New Committee

Following on from the handover of the captaincy, a new committee was duly appointed to oversee the day to day practicalities of managing such an incredible team as ours. We owe our thanks to Kit Davies, Chi-Hé Elder, Guy Emerson, Jolyon Martin, Kien Trinh, and Patricia Vlad for their work over the last year. The new committee, with a mixture of old hands and fresh faces, has a fantastic balance of all the people required to keep the CUDT engine running whilst the dancers train hard.

Dancesport gets Discretionary Full Blue recognition

As of the 21st February 2013, and thanks to the hard work of the outgoing Captain and Vice-Captain, Dafni Metaxa and Sophie Robertson, Dancesport is now recognised as a Full Blue sport for women. Their work, along with the efforts of the coaches and team members over the years, stands as recognition of the intense training, effort and discipline required of Dancesport. We have been one of the most successful Blues teams within the University over the last few years, and it is this hard work and dedication from our team that has brought us to where we are today.
