CUDT holds ‘team trials’ at the start of each year, both to look for new talent and to assess the dancers already on team. If you have some experience of Ballroom/Latin dancing (whether you’ve taken one class or already competed for years), this is the event where you come and meet the captains and coaches and show us what you’ve got!
Any university student from the University of Cambridge, Anglia Ruskin University and the Open University is welcome to join. You don’t need to come with a partner, and you can wear whatever you feel comfortable dancing in – including trainers if you do not have dance shoes.
Trials for teams will be held on the 12th of October at Parkside Community College. Please also keep free 5:30-8pm on Sunday the 13th, as we may trial some potential couples at that time, in the University Sports Centre Dance Studios.

Please fill in this form to register your interest in the Cambridge University Dancesport Team as a non-beginner for the year 2024-25 – this includes people who have taken just one ballroom/lain class, right up to Varsity veterans and open circuit champions!
For trials this year, we will ask you to dance some Waltz and Cha Cha. There are choreography videos from our professional coaches, which we will release a couple of weeks before trials, and will be sent to you once you have signed up. Please learn these so we can assess abilities on a level playing field.
The deadline for signing up to trials is Wednesday 9th October at 6pm. On Friday evening we will release a timetable detailing a 20 minute slot which we would like you to attend, so please keep free any time windows you say you can come to.

Unable to attend trials?
If you are keen to dance with CUDT as someone with dance experience but are unable to attend trials, please fill in the form anyway, so we know you are interested!
Complete beginner?
If you are a complete dance beginner (i.e. have never had a Ballroom or Latin lesson), please do not sign up for trials! You can get in contact with our lovely beginners captains at cudtbeginners@gmail.com or simply attend one of the Beginners’ taster sessions advertised on our social media (@camdancesport)

FAQs for Trials 2024:
How do I sign up? The signup form and choreography videos will be released a couple of weeks before trials – keep an eye on this page and on our social media.
What do I wear? Wear clothes that you are comfortable to dance in (we would not recommend full costume…) and wear trainers if you do not have any dance shoes.
Why are you taking photos and videos? How will my data be used? The pictures and videos are for coach and captain use only, and will be used to help make decisions about partnering. These will be deleted when we have no further use for them, or otherwise within 3 weeks following trials.
