Cambridge extended our winning run at Nottingham Varsity Ball…

The Nottingham Varsity Ball was the first Inter-Varsity fixture for CUDT this term. This year, the competition underwent a number of major changes. The adjudicators were some of the most respected names in dancesport, such as Nicola Nordin, former European Professional Latin finalist, or Ryan McShane, runner-up at the British National Championship. Varsity victory seals another undefeated year for Cambridge

May 2nd 2015 marked the 42nd Varsity Dancesport match, and the final fixture of the season for the Cambridge University Dancesport Team (CUDT). Each university put forward two teams of nine couples, split into three heats. The B teams faced off in the Challenge Match in the morning, and the Blues Team competed in the Varsity match in the afternoon. Within a match, each heat danced against the three opposition’s heats. A panel of five judges marked the competitors in descending order from first to sixth place in four dances: Waltz, Quickstep, Cha-cha-cha, and Jive. These placings were converted to marks (six marks for a sixth placing and one mark for a sixth placing), to be added to the team’s total score. Varsity Victory

On the 4th May 2013, Cambridge University Dancesport Team has pulled it off yet again and won the annual varsity match against Oxford University Dancesport Team! On home turf, at the Kelsey Kerrige sports centre (frequented by the likes of George Clooney and Matt Damon) both the A and B teams were victorious, the B team by a very impressive margin. This has capped a year’s intense training by the team, during which we have brought home almost every piece of silverware for which we competed, building on similar success last year. It was also the official handover of the captaincy of Dafni Metaxa to Halliki Voolma and the Vice-Captaincy from Sophie Robertson to Kirsty Davies. We are very grateful to the outgoing captains for their hard work and dedication, and wish all the best to our incoming leaders.
